Raw Chocolate Mylkshake

 

Chocolate milkshakes were not something that happened a lot in my childhood. Not for lack of whining and begging, I can assure you. My mother was a stickler when it came to eating what we thought to be a healthy diet (read no milkshakes, unless mom is out-of-town). However, if given the choice I would certainly have a milkshake in place of any meal. With what I am now recognizing as a distinguished palate (ha), I completely understand why I love the holidays. Chocolate and cookies are not only available for meals, but also acceptable. “It’s the holidays….”

Though my diet has changed considerably since childhood, old habits die-hard. Luckily this has a much healthier twist, and a far better taste. Spoil yourself, spoil your kids, and spoil your lovers, because this shake is delicious, no matter what meal you have it for.

RAW CHOCOLATE MYLKSHAKE

Servings: 1 1/2 Cups

1 Cup Water

1/4 Cup Cashews (If you don’t have cashews omit them and use Almond milk instead of water)

3T Cacao

1 Frozen Banana

1 Avocado

5 Ice Cubes

2-3 Dates

Dash Sea Salt

Dash of Cinnamon

Garnish with Cacao Nibs

Instructions:

Blend water and cashews until smooth.

Add Remaining ingredients except cacao nibs and blend.

Top with cacao nibs and a shot of Kahlua…. here’s to the holidays!
